A productivity app built to be put down

Most productivity apps are measured on how often you come back. This one is measured on whether the habit holds once you stop needing it. Three tools, no gamification, no streak shame, and nothing engineered to pull you in. All three are free and work with no account.

No ads. No gamification. No streak shame. No notifications begging you back. The measure of success is that you need it less.

Your app and your goal want different things

Engagement is the business model

A productivity app funded by attention has to keep you opening it. So it ships streaks you will not want to break, badges, daily nudges and a red number for a missed day - features that raise engagement whether or not they raise output.

Your goal is the opposite

What you actually want is to focus reliably and keep the routines that matter, then think about the app as little as possible. A tool you have to keep visiting is a tool that has quietly become another thing to maintain.

So the incentive is inverted here

There is nothing to protect, nothing to level up and no reason to open it twice. If the habit holds and you drift away for a month, that is the tool working. It will be there when you come back, with your data intact.

Hours, days, direction

Focus is your hours: a Pomodoro-based timer tracker that records where the time went, not just that it passed. Habits are your days: a weekly grid with planned rest days and honest skips that never break a streak. Reflection is your direction: two minutes at the end of the day - a score out of ten, one gratitude, one thing that could be better. Most tools do one of the three. Doing all three on one account is the point, because hours without direction is just busyness.

Reasons it might not suit you

No tool is right for everyone, and a comparison that only flatters itself is not worth reading. These are real reasons to choose the other one.

There is no motivation engine

No points, no avatar, no loot. If gamification is genuinely what gets you moving, Habitica does that properly and this does not do it at all.

There is nobody watching

No friends, no parties, no leaderboards, no sharing. If social accountability is what keeps you honest, that is a real mechanism and it is absent here on purpose.

It does not block anything

No app blocking, no website blocker, no phone lockout. It assumes the decision is already made and only records what happened.

It is one person

Built and run by one person in the EU, which means no support queue and no roadmap committee - and also no team to call if something breaks at midnight. Worth knowing before you rely on it.

The whole idea in one line

Most apps want to become your habit. Quiet Control helps build the habit, then steps out of the way. Everything else follows from that: no streak to protect, no badge to chase, no notification designed to pull you back, and a free tier that is genuinely usable forever without an account. Not louder. Not faster. Just more intentional.

Common questions

No gamification, no streak shame, no badges, no leaderboards, no ads, and no push notifications built to bring you back. Missing a day is marked as a planned rest or an honest skip rather than a broken streak. The interface is deliberately plain.
Yes. All three tools - focus timer, habit tracker and reflection journal - are free forever and work with no account at all, straight in the browser. Pro adds analytics, deeper tracking and cloud sync across devices, and can be tried free for 3 days.
A Pomodoro-based timer tracker for your hours, a habit tracker for your days, and a daily reflection journal for your direction. They share one account and one philosophy but work completely independently - use one or all three.
Nothing designed to pull you back. The weekly email summary on Pro and the browser alert when a focus session ends are both off unless you switch them on. A signed-in account also gets occasional product-update emails, which have their own toggle in Profile and settings. There are no streak reminders, no nudges and nothing sent to win you back if you drift away.
Those are task and document systems, and they are good at that. This tracks time, days and direction rather than a task list. There is no project management here and no attempt to be a second brain.
No. Every tool works anonymously in the browser and saves to that device. Signing in with Google is only for cloud sync and Pro features - it is the door to Pro, not a gate in front of the product.
Used anonymously, nothing leaves your device at all. Signing in stores your name and email on your account so it can be identified and contacted, but your sessions, habits and reflections stay on the device until you upgrade. On Pro they sync privately to your own account on Google Cloud. No ads anywhere, no data harvesting, nothing sold to anyone, and the account and all its data can be deleted at any time.

Three tools, one account

The Focus Timer records your hours. The Habit Tracker holds your days. The Reflection Journal keeps the direction honest. They share one account and one philosophy, and each works completely on its own - use one, or all three. All free, and none of them needs an account.

Focus Timer

Track where your focused hours actually go, session by session - then see your peak times and real totals.
📅

Habit Tracker

A weekly grid for the routines between those hours. Rest days and honest skips keep a streak alive.
